Weekend Highlights




Pretty sure it was just Friday approximately 17 minutes ago.     That weekend was packed to the gills and flew by at lightning speed.    

How about a weekend wrap up/ sunday sentiments/ weekend highlights post?



Remember when I did these all the time?  

As in regularly?

Like, every Sunday?







Me too.   

Miso miss that.

I just can't seem to get it together on Sunday nights these days.

So now we have to deal with the bootleg version.



Let's see...

The weekend went a little something like this...




1.  FORE miler race with this posse





34:13
14th place out of 293 in age group
47th out of 973 females overall

Not horrible, considering the humidity was at 198%, plus some.     Kinda reminded me of the Cleveland Marathon that time I thought I was gonna die.  Only that was 26.2 miles and this was 4.  Or fore! in this case.  

Overall, this was a fun little race and I will definitely do it again.  




2.   Threw a birthday bash for my favorite 6 year old.



All about her.   Started the day with Starbucks "cream" Frapp's and ended it with cupcakes and more cupcakes.   
Pretty sure she is still exhausted from the late night reindeer games.


3.    Crossfit Regionals!

Oh Mylanta.

Columbus, OH happened to be a host city for regionals and I am still in awe.



The athletic ability, sheer talent, and hard work and dedication that I witnessed, still amazes me.    Think you're even a tiny bit in shape?   Go watch regionals.   Inspiring and humbling all at the same time.    So exciting to watch.  


4.  Murph!

Speaking of Crossfit, my box hosts the Murph workout every Memorial Day.


An amazing way to honor those who paid the ultimate price for our freedom.   



And what a workout it is!!!



100 pull ups pretty much gifted me with this....


Despite these hand rips, it was amazing.    I had hand protection on during the first few pull ups.  However, I got frustrated and slippery and yanked them off before I knew what hit me.    Before I knew it, the pull ups were over and my hands looked like they had been put through that of a meat grinder.  (Feel free to throw up now.)   

Oh and check out the arm blood from getting tangled with a tree during the second mile run.   
So... pretty much lady like all around.  
Don't judge.  
I immediately applied lipgloss to counteract the mangled mess I had become.

7.   In between all of this were cookouts, kid activities, out of town visitors, and about 49 other commitments.    
So basically the work week needed to begin so I could resume normal programming.

New Easy Eats, Exciting Advo News, and Your Typical Randomness


And just like that, it's practically summer here in the C-Bus, O-H.    

I'll take two, please.



Another sign of summer? 

Ummm... these monkeys are outta school!




Say What?     

I realize the little one looks like she's going to the electric chair but I swear she was beyond happy.    
It's the annoying pics that may or may not have put her over the edge.



Somehow this one is first grade bound.




And.... I pretty much spent the majority of her Kindergarten celebration trying not to cry in public.  Especially when she proudly demonstrated her sweet little reading skills.   
Sweetest thing ever.





But yes, we're out.  Any other early birds?

Fancy some new protein balls?   






So easy.

You Need:

6 scoops of vanilla Muscle Gain
2 c rolled oats (I'm still obsessed with TJ's gluten free)
3/4 c natural peanut butter (hi lover)
2 very ripe bananas
a very hefty shake of cinnamon (my shake may have lasted approx 20 seconds)
a splash of agave

Mix and form into 1 1/2 inch balls.   Roll in your favorite "toppings."   
I used a variety of chia seeds, crushed almonds, cacao nibs, and cranberies.   
Lay on parchment paper, place in sealed container, and place in freezer for approx 2 hours to set.
After 2ish hours- transfer to refrigerator.   
Keep refrigerated and enjoy!
Even my kiddos love these.


My other easy peasy favorite breakfast

Protein Pancakes

#nofilter
#drool

3/4 c egg whites
1 scoop vanilla Muscle Gain
cinnamon (duh..)
a sprinkle of stevia
a dash of vanilla extract

Whisk and pour on hot griddle.
Wait for middle to bubble and flip.   
Top with 1 tbsp of natural peanut butter and fresh berries or sliced banana.

Y-U-M

A hefty dose of protein and this kept me full for dayyyyys....

Updates All Around!



The update situation on the blog is sad...  Real sad.

It's kinda the new blog.... in a way...

Advorunner.   I'm there.


So Lean in 13.   



This time was WAY better.    I wasn't quite as stringent and made necessary modifications, when needed.    Some people hated it.  Some loved it.    Either way you look at it, it's like the 24 Day Challenge on speed.    Are you an experienced challenger that needs to lean out, like tomorrow?    Lean in 13 is probably for you.   

We will likely do another group right after Memorial Day.   Message me for details.


What else?


Cap City 1/2 Marathon came and went.
Long time blog readers, you know I love this race.




My training took place surrounded by a ball of sunshine...



Or surrounded by this...

 Ohio people... I know you feel me.


So yes... this here little Cap was fun.   And I felt zero pressure.  And ran it with one of my favorite peeps.  



Official time was 2:02:04.   
Not a pr for either of us, but ya don't get PR's taking selfie's at mile 11.  You just don't.   


How did I fuel?





The usual...


Race time was 8 a.m.

Step 1.    Spark and 3 Catalyst (not pictured) at 6 a.m.

Step 2.   V02 Prime bar on the way to race (approx 6:4ish)

Step 3.  02 Gold and Arginine Extreme with approx 1/2 Spark at 7:3ish.


ps- Ummm 02 Gold is outta stock???    I'm legit hoarding what I've got.   Other people who have it in my general vicinity... I know where you live.   

Post race party was legit.   

Super proud of this one who I'm slowly but surely brainwashing into becoming a runner.    Quarter marathon?   Well under an hour?   I'd say my master plan is working?

A double dose of Omegaplex





I woke up the next day feeling pretty darn good.    And may or may not have gone for a "little" 5 mile recovery run.   5 little miles.
   ps-  when non-runners think you're crazy for running the day after a half marathon,  here's what you do....
***If you refer to the miles as "little miles" it seems less crazy to everyone.      Let's practice. 

Runner-  "Hey I'm gonna head out and run a few little miles just to shake the legs out."
Non-runner-   "Are you insane!?"
Runner-  "No,  it's just 5 little miles.   Be right back."

Somehow this make it normal.     

Little miles.

Remember that.

"Little" can also be used in the same context when talking about dollars.   

Remember that too.

Mother's Day!

We had a great day for sure.     A full house filled with chaos, love, good food, and good drinks.     My kind of MD.
