The Womelete

Popping in with a quick post on the womelete.

Do you guys know about this???   Otherwise known as an omelete waffle.  I prefer the "womelete."

I can't even begin to take credit for this brilliance.   My friend, who was face down in the Whole 30, randomly sent me a beautiful egg waffle looking photo, simply entited "womelete."      Obviously I immediately logged into Amazon.com and had my very own waffle iron en route in moments.

This is an amazing concept, really.    I thought my friend was the original genius but upon further investigation,  there are all kinds of fabulous womelete-based ideas on the inner webs.  Who knew!?

The Cozy Cook  and Kirby's Cravings  are both sitting back like "what are ya, new?"

This is the quickest, easiest way to get a healthy meal in your belly.   Swear.  The whole process takes less than 10 minutes.

So easy…

1.  Spray waffle iron with oil spray (I use olive oil mist) and preheat.
2.   In a bowl, whisk eggs or egg whites and whatever random fillings or spices your heard desires.
3.  Pour that into your preheated iron and let cook.  Mine takes about 3-4 minutes, depending on what's inside.

Seriously.  There's something about this texture that's amzing.

My FAVE combo to date….

3 eggs
1/2 mashed banana
 cinnamon (#allthe cinnamon)
top with almond butter and sea salt.

You guys.   I realize this is nut butter combo predictable of me and everything but seriously… #icanteven.

So yes, in summary.   We all need to be on board with the womelete.   Where was this brilliant idea when I was doing my first 24 Day Challenge???
The possibilities are endless.

I wanna hear what fabulous creations y'all drum up!

See you guys back here within 48.  Prommy!

My Advo Running Love Story

Happy Friday, friends!

"It's the freakin' weekend baby I'm about to have me some fun…."

Anyone remember that song?   If you don't have it on your playlist, download it stat.

Ignition.  R Kelly.

Lots of you saw this on my Advo Facebook page and as promised, I told ya I'd give you my scoop.   Lots of questions and I figured I'd just give you the goods in one place.

As you all know, I've basically always been a runner.   However, until Advo, I never felt like a truly "fit" runner.   I could run my races, was a middle of the road runner, had decent cardio capacity but that's kinda it.

In 2010 that all changed when I did my first 24 Day Challenge.    Granted, it took me forever and a day to figure out my routine and what works for me.     And really, it was probably the end of 2011 before I really got in my groove with the Performance Elite line.        But these days, I can't imagine working out or recovering without it.   Not only for running but they've done wonders for my boxing and crossfit.

Today…we shall focus on running.

I'll save the strength/ Crossfit product talk for another post.

This post is from April of 2013 and I STILL follow this drill before I run.

Here is what works for ME..

THE first thing I do every morning is take 3 Catalyst.   Running or not.  The end.

I take this any time I drink a Spark and before I work out.   This is an amino acid supplement that is designed to help you maintain muscle mass.   Basically, it protects your muscle while you are in weight loss mode, or intense exercise mode.  The thing I LOVE about this product it also gradually gives you a look of being "lean."    It has allowed me to gain definition that I had never seen before, despite working my tail off and doing many of the very same workouts.   LOVE, love, love Catalyst.   Seriously.  It's basically my 3rd child.    Actually 4th, I can't do #runnerdog like dis.

Sooo…. basically any time that I run further than 3 or 4 miles, these 3 products are always involved in some capacity.

Here have Spark02 Gold, and Arginine Extreme.

I  mix a scoop of Spark with a  scoop of Arginine Extreme about 45 minutes prior to heading out.    If it's a super early morning run and I don't have 45 minutes to spare,  I'll just make it the night before, refrigerate it,  and basically shoot it the minute I get out of bed.   I also take my two 02 Gold with this little concoction of Spark/ Arginine.

Okay, so let's break it down.

I know we've talked about Spark  and why you need it in the past.  If you're a Sparkhead,  you know it's a huge impact product.   Tons of feel good B-vitamins, amino acids, and about 120 mg of caffeine.   Most of you have heard about this product or are currently using it on the reg, so I won't bore you with more details.

Now Arginine Extreme is a product that I've dabbled with in the past prior to Body Pump, Crossfit, and boxing classes but have never really used it as a precursor to my running until late.   I'm loving it.    And here are the benny's...

  • Provides and nourishes the precursors necessary for muscle growth and recovery
  • Provides excellent support for cardio workouts
  • Helps enhance strength and stamina, especially when used with AdvoCare® Muscle Fuel  (I obviously use Spark)
  • Helps support nutrient delivery to muscles
  • Helps promote short-term increases in nitric oxide levels
  • Nourishes a healthy respiratory system
  • Helps maintain a healthy cardiovascular system
  • Helps support healthy blood pressure levels already in the normal range
  • Helps enhance reproductive function
  • Aids in maintaining a healthy, efficient immune system

This product contains some serious L-Arginine (amongst other fabulous things) which is converted by the body into a chemical called nitric oxide.  This essentially relaxes the blood vessels, allowing them to expand and increase the blood flow that reaches our muscles during exercise.   This increased blood flows allows additional oxygen to reach working muscles, which enhances performance.   So in a nutshell, it's going to make intensive exercise feel easier.  #winning #forshiz

And last, we have my beloved 02 Gold, which I believe I have talked about before.   However, I love it so much that I think it deserves an encore.

Again, this product is designed to enhance the bodies ability to utilize oxygen and and enhance physical activity.   It contains adaptogens,  which are designed to assist your body in resisting physical stress (aka...exercise!)   These adaptogens have been shown to help facilitate oxygen transport, which in turn increases your  physical ability and more importantly, your tolerance for physical exertion.   For me, this means I can run farther and for a greater amount of time without feeling a whole lot of cardiovascular stress.   My breathing is less labored and I just feel more comfortable in general.

Skeptical?   I was too.   However, for me, the products that I love, specifically 02 Gold,  speak for themselves.     I have been using this product for  three years now and can truly say, aside from Spark and Catalyst, this is the one product that I'm calling every person in a 90 mile radius who I suspect may have a stash, if/when I run out.    And if I can't locate it that way...I basically call 911.

I run with a large running group and have even turned many of my fellow runners into 02 Gold believers.     I have improved my times in both the half and full marathons. I work hard, yes.  However, these products are really the only thing that I have done differently in regards to running.

And one more thing  that is super important to me is that these (and all Advocare products for that matter) are approved by the Olympic standards committee.  They are continuously undergoing rigorous testing to maintain compliance.   They are quality, elite products.

During my runs…

Less than about 8 miles, I typically don't take anything DURING the run.

However, anywhere from 8-22 miles (22 is our longest training run), I will take a Rehydrate Gel every 5 miles.

I will also take one more 02 Gold if going longer than about 13-14 miles.

Post Run

Typically I follow this drill after a long training run.   Not daily because I don't feel that I need it unless I'm cranking serious miles.

1.  Post Workout Recovery

Advocare Post Workout Recovery Shake.  I can't say enough about this product.   It was developed for athletes to minimize muscle soreness and speed recovery time.    It is in Ohio State's football loccer room as well as many NFL loccer rooms.   It's the bomb.     I also take two extra Omegaplex to help further decrease inflammation.

The Post Workout Recovery can be mixed with water, milk, almond milk, or whatever tickles your fancy.     I personally mix 2 scoops of PWR, 1 cup unsweetened almond milk, 1 frozen banana, and 1 cup of spinach in the blender.     It's truly delish and never fails me.

2.  Nightime Recovery

Two of these bad boys at night after a long run…Golden.

This product contains adaptagens which aid in muscle recovery and stress to the body in general.   This also aids in muscle repair, hence allowing us to be badass again more quickly.
Plus, I swear there is something ever so slightly in this product that helps me sleep.  Anyone????

Questions?   Message me…advocarerunner1@gmail.com

I'll be answering lots of emails this weekend so giddy up, yo's.

If you live in the tundra like me, stay warm!  For the rest of you, I'm starting to get madatcha.   #pdhmily

See you back here for Sunday Sentiments.  For real.

Keep on rollin',

The Weekend and my Current Trader Joe's Obsessions

Hi friends!

Hope you all had an amazing weekend.  Ummm… did I tell you it's truly 1 degree here in the 614?   As in ONE?    This equals nothing good.

Weekend Workouts:

Friday-   Crossfit Filthy Fifty.  Ummm…has anyone else endured this torture?   Allow me to share….

I realize that looking at this doesn't look all that terrifiying.   However, I assure you that we were all stroking out by the second exercise.   Basically.

Saturday-     90 Minute Power Hour class at Title Boxing Club

Oh and it was a special event, which involved the most amazing DJ ever and mimosas at the end.   Ummm..if that's not the perfect way to workout, I don't know what is.

I'm in the baseball hat and basically as close as possible to the music.

Sunday- 5 mile treadmill run

So I was supposed to run in this 15 mile race

But remember how I said it was legit 1 degree?   Oh and the windchill is -20 or some crazyness.
I've never backed out of a race in the history of running.  However, even I'm not this certifiable, which is shocking to even myself.   I just couldn't bear it.  No bueno.

What else?

Some post workout crossfit shenans…

Wearing my new favorite sweatshirt.  Like every second.   Local friends, I'm real sorry.   You're gonna see a lot of this until the weather turns.   #SNS

Loving on this little Valentine.   The big one was too cool for the pic.

Galavanting around Trader Joe's…

Sooo… I've got some new fave's that I pretty much can't get enough of.   Let's talk about 'em, wanna?

Wasabi Roasted Seaweed Snack

These are seriously 99 pennies.    Low calorie, low carb and kill a sushi, salt craving.    They're ugly as sin so don't look at 'em.  But I swear they're delicious.

Beet Hummus

I realize this makes no sense.   The consistency isn't even really "hummus-ey"  (Hummes-ey is obvi not a word….but now it is…)   This stuff is beautiful!  And slightly sweet but not over the top.   I loved it from first dip but could see how it could be an acquired taste.  It's cheap.  And different.  Buy it tomorrow.

Cashew Butter

If you saw my post on the Insta (Advorunner) this weekend, you know I'm basically not even qualified to have this in my house.  You know, like a normal human being.   I simply can't stay out of this.    It feels like more of a treat than peanut butter (#whoami?).  It's actually low sugar and not all that ridiculous.  I drained the oil from the top before I stirred in order to lose some fat and cals.   #fakehealthy

TJ's Coconut Body Butter

I think I've mentioned this before but I feel that it needs reiterating.   This stuff is $5.   It feels like it's $25.  It smells amazing.    Is so rich and hydrating.   I love it year round.   It's amazing in the summer after being in the sun and just as amazing in the winter when our skin is as dry as a Tyrannosaurus.   Y'all need this.   TJ's also comes out with seasonal versions, which I always bite on.   However, the classic is my favorite.

Crisy Broccoli Florets

These are addicting.  Basically a perfect potato chip fix.  Only it's broccoli.   Perfectly savory and crunchy.  I also use these for salads.   Oh and my kids love them.   #winning.

Horseradish Hummus

This has been around for awhile but dang, I love it.   45 calories per serving and a ton of personality.    Hot and horseradishy but not over the top.  I put this on everything from my egg scramble, to salads, to my wraps.   Good stuff.

Our TJ's is expanding and it seems like new items pop up speedier than normal, which is making me super happy.

S'all for now.   Hope you guys had a funderful weekend and are staying warm.    And if you don't need to stay warm because you live in Floridia, California, or Arizona…  I can't even hate on you…just know I've got a huge case of the peanut butter and Jellies..

So What Wednesday!?! With Random Stories..

What What!?

Hey Cats!    As always, #hwgy!    Yes, here we go, yo is now a #!    I made it up and it's official.  And Real.

***SO WHAT if I've had the kinda crazy week where I literally just had to stop mid post and say...
"Wait…is today even Wedneday?!?"     Yes. Yes I did.

***SO WHAT if I'm fairly certain that the Bachelor is making me dumb??   I was glued (glued!) on Monday and felt like I could barely perform in the workplace on Tuesday.   Not kidding.      Sadly, I've roped many innocent bystanders back into this show.   I'm basically bringing down society as we know it.

***SO WHAT if I'm over these upcoming school V-Day parties that haven't even happened?    #curmudgeon #sns
A) Crocodile tears over less than perfect handwriting on Valentines?   Yes.
B) Crocodile tears over some type of alleged writing or print marginally showing through tightly pink wrapped box prior to it being decorated?   Yes.
C) High on life and in love with box, Valentines, all things pertaining to said upcoming parties, love,  rainbows, unicorns, and puppies, all things Valentines and love and stuff just 5 minutes after crocodile tears?   Why, yes….
If I didn't know any better, I'd think I was dealing with a prepubescent girl.
Lord, help me.
I'm serious, Lord.
This is actually my moms fault.
She put this spell on me when I was just an innocent child myself.  She warned me that I'd have the same kinda drama in my life when I became a mom if I didn't simmer down and basically shut up and give her some peace.
Well, now I feel like her spell was real.
And I'm scared.   I'm real scared.
I'm kinda serious.

***SO WHAT if I ate cashews for dinner?   After the above said incident, nobody got time for anything but cashews.    And a glass of wine.   Keeping it real.

***SO WHAT if I'm majorly excited that so many of you are signing up for one of my favorite half marathons in the history of the world… The Cap City!
This race rocks and I'm super pumped to see some familiar faces.    Such a fun environment and the weather is cooperative and awesome.
….Except for the year that I moved back to the 614 from out west..
Ps-  did you guys know I used to live in Las Vegas?
I loved that Vegas running weather and used to run like a gaselle in the morning in January in a tank like no big thang.
Anyway, so I'm back in the C-bus… I decide that winter/ spring running will not defeat me.    I won't be defeated.  Not gonna happen.   The End.
I immediately sign up for the Cap City….
 Legit snow storm.
We were running in 5-6 inches of snow that never stopped.     This was approximately 2005.   Please tell me I'm not the only person who remembers this travesity?
However, every year since then… the weather? Perfection.
In summary, sign up if you're on the fence.  You'll love this race.

I've still got Fabletics and StitchFix reviews ready for posting.   And a bunch of other shenans happening too.   Stay with me. And love me through it.  I'll be back within 48, per usual.

Sunday Sentiments / Weekend Wrap Up/ Florida Highlights

Look at me being all timely with my Sunday Sentiments!!

Ready for the longest post ever?    Get comfy.

Weekend Workouts:

Friday-  Crossfit.  Didn't die. Almost did.   Lesson learned.  Never take 5 days off from Crossfit again.   You might die.   And feel like you're on the Biggest Loser.  And basically feel like you've never worked out a day in your life.  Ever.
Speaking of Crossfit, any of my Crossfit readers signed up for the Crossfit Open?   #onlikedk

Saturday-   Quick 5k and the inaugural ride on the spin bike.

Nothing unusual 'bout a spin bike in the bedroom.     Everybody knows that.

Sunday-   6 mile run.   It was balmy and 50 here in the 614.  My hands were tied.

Sooo…. the 3 day mini cleanse….

If you missed the goods on this, go check out my Facebook page.

At any rate, it was a quick, easy, effective way to get back to reset from too much goodness in Florida.

Feeling back to normal and ready to roll.

Weekend Highlights:

Weekends can't all be great….

My sweet gram, who is almost 100 years old is unfortunately on hospice and actively dying.   Spent the majority of Saturday driving to and from my old stomping grounds to spend some time with her and the family.

Love this pic of her.

THEN, the big monkey  got the stomach bug.  You know, the kind with projectile vomiting.
No bueno.    Spending today sanitizing and being paranoid that the rest of us are getting struck/ stricken (?) down at any moment.    Isn't that the universal rule of the stomach bug?  One person goes down….everybody goes down???
The scene from the spin bike above was the start… Ya know, the scene of her wrapped as a burrito on my bed.      The first explosion occurred shortly thereafter.

Not all horrible….

Had a fab time with good friends and little monkeys on Friday.

Lots of Shopkins negotiations went down.   Ummm…. are your kids obsessed with Shopkins?   Whoever thought these babies up is real lucky.  And rich.

When my kiddos aren't negotiating a trade, they're basically watching Shopkins videos on YouTube.  Seriously. Where did these come from??
And how do these kids know every single one of them by name?   Yet, they forget to brush their teeth without prompting…hmmmmm….

Oh and bought a new computer so I can properly work and blog from the comfort of my bed.  #granny #comfortqueen #hibernation #sorrynotsorry

Oh and randomly signing up for random races.

Local friends, if you don't know about Granville, you need to.  I think I've talked about it before but need to reiterate that it's so dang cute.   Plus, what's not to love about running 15 miles there in the middle of February?

Let's talk about some Florida highlights!

Had an amazing time visiting with the family.

My time there included:

Logged 30 miles in that glorious Florida sun.    I couldn't resist the pavement, which is why I took 5 days off from Crossfit and almost died.   Originally I had planned to hit a CF box there and as predicted, couldn't resist the sun.

ps- Anyone else obsessed with Uma Thurman by Fall Out Boy?

pss- Speaking of music…anyone else super pumped about the Grammy's tonight???  Currently watching the pre-show this very moment.    Hello pretties!

**Just lounging in big chairs on the beach and stuff…

**Acting like fools on boats at sunset.

**Loving new friends...

**And having so much fun with the family in general…

The pops and me...

A fabulous getaway indeed.

On deck...

***I've got another Fabletics review as well as a StitchFix box or two that are both waiting for some air time.

***More 24 Day Challenge peeps are starting over the next couple weeks.  Spring break coming up????    Be there.

Hope you all had a funderfull Sunday.

See you in less than 48.

Our Valentine's Day Wishlist and A Question

Hi Loves!

Back from the Flo-Rida and ready to roll….

Who wants to talk about Valentine's Day?   Ummm… every girl bloggy reader up in here.  That's who.

 Here's what we need…

Remember how I broke up with Lululemon?  Sometimes I take back everything I said and see cute people wearing cute things on the Instagram and then cave.   Like I did with these special pants.   Cuz they're cool in a zillion ways.    Right?
I'll be posting a selfie on the Insta the second they arrive.   Obvioulsy.

Now I don't own this watch…. But I want to.   Real bad.   It was basically made to be a Valentine's prezzy.   And the gold is gold but not in your face gold.    We all know this means it could be easily mixed with all metals like it ain't no thang.

So Meghan is my friend.  And she has this fabulous little jewelry business.   And she gave me this adorable quatrifoil necklace for my (go shorty..it's your)  birthday.      And it's the perfect little necklace for everything from daytime..no big deal… to layering with long, bold necklaces.  Every time I wear this, which is basically 5 outta 7 days in some capacity, I get a compliment.  Y'all need this.  Even if you have to take matters in your own hands.    Affordable.  Adorable.  You need it.

Clearly, you need these in pink.    These are the headphones that I nearly cut a man on Black Friday to get.   I can't express my undying love for them.    They don't move and the sound is amazing.    Again.  You need them.  In pink.   Cuz it's Valentine's Day.  Plus, it'd be kind of amazing if we all had pink Beats.

Nike Pre Montreal Sneaker

Wanna look cool at any given moment?  Morning, noon, and night?  We need deeez.   We need them for distressed skinny jeans.   We need them for baggy boyfriend jeans.   We need them for black leggings and sweatshirts.   The universe wants us to have these.
Now our problem is, the universe knows that everyone needs these and they're sold out in all the good sizes.   Everywhere.  Basically.

Tory Burch Kira Mini Chain

You guys, I hate that this little perfect bag is $250.   I do.
So allow me to defend her….
Tory Burch doesn't play and her quality is legit.    What this tells me is that this bag would be with us till the end of time.   Plus, she's timeless.   And pink.  And just like the KS watch…she was made to be a V-Day prezzy.     Plus, look at her.  She really wants to be.

StitchFix Gift Card

What better way to try the StichFix?    Although I'm a certifiable StitchFix addict…. I got a gift card for my birthday…(Thanks Dana!)  and it was like money in the bizzaink.   Honestly, it thrilled me to the bone.   So yes, on the fence?   You need a SF gift card.

The Perfect Pajamas

I realize that anything from Victoria's Secret is so cliche and predictable for V-Day.
You guys can't even be annoyed at me for this gift since I acknowledged it beforehand and everything.
However, the hibernating/ comfort conisurour/ pajama hoarder that I am…calls it like it is.
VS "The Cotton Mayfair's" have it going on.   In many ways. I'm serious.
   Worth the price tag?
Do you wanna be happy, warm, cute, and comfortable?   All at the same time?
I think we've got our answer then.

See you back in a sec for a small Florida recap and the goods on my bootleg 3 day cleanse.

Laters Babes.

PS-   You guys, I'm reading Gone Girl and can.not.put.it down.
Why did no one tell me about this book?????
How have I been living in the 2010's this long and not know that everyone else in the free world was reading and talking about Gone Girl??

Well, I'm sure people did mention it.
 However,  I didn't listen because I'm like this…

And a lot. but mostly sometimes.

But seriously.   I'm already having premeditated saddness about this book being over.

What's next?
I need something similar.
I'm serious.
Gimme some recs, babers.

Laters Babers….For real this time.
