I'm Here. With a Plea....

Hi friends,

Just wanted to check in and say #pleasedonthateme, iloveyou.

This bloggy is falling apart.  But I promise I'll be back with a vengeance.   Life has thrown me a lemon or two and I'm sorting it all out.

I love this bloggy, I love running, I love helping you guys with running,  I love my Advo, I love my health and fitness life, and I love all of you WAY too much to let my little spot on the inner webs disappear.

So what I'm saying is, stay with me, love me through it.... don't hate me if my posts are sporadic and not as regular as they were.   Give me just a couple more weeks and it's #onlikeDK.   I promise you that.   Like, promise with blood.  Or whatever people say when they're making a legit promise.

Thanks for the emails and virtual love.   You guys are basically the equivalent of melted peanut butter on top of a carb.  Pick a carb.  Any carb.   I love you that much.

In a nutshell...me love you long time.   And I'll be back.  And we'll all be happy again.     So just do me a large, and stick around.    It'll be worth it, bloggy friends.

A Legit Muffin Recipe and Other Shenans...

Happy Sunday Funday!

Weekend Workouts:

Friday-  5 glorious miles.  It was practically summer outside.

Saturday-  Cardio Trio-  1 mile sprint, 20 min. on the arc trainer, 15 min. on the guillotine.   Abs, planks, back.

Sunday-  5k on the dready- 24:12.   Body Pump.

 Songs You Guys Need Asap:

First things first…does anyone else hate that song "I'm Happy" that's basically #1 on the charts?   I don't understand.    I really don't.    How did this happen?   It makes me the opposite of happy.

Okay, back to songs you guys need…

1.  Need to Breathe-  Streets of Gold

Love this.  Awesome chill song and I'm loving this band.

2.  Say Somthin-  Austin Mahone

This kid is basically 1D in disguise.  So obvi I only downloaded this for the 7 year old.  Obvi.

3.  Always Summer-  Yellowcard

FAB running song.

4.  Headlights-  Eminem (feat. Nate Ruess)

I'm pretty much obsessed with this one for no real reason.  Other than it's awesome and I'm obsessed with Eminem lately.

So yeah, download these immeed.

Alright, let's talk about these legit muffins…

Clean Banana Walnut Muffins

Ingredients:

3 eggs
1/2 c. coconut oil
2 medium bananas
4 dates, finely chopped
1/4 c.  coconut flour (could also use almond flour)
1/2 tsp sea salt
1/2 c walnuts

Directions:

1. Place eggs, oil, bananas, and dates in Vitamix (or blender…if you're deprived of the Vitamix like me).   Blend on medium until combined.

2.  Add coconut flour and salt.   Blend until smooth.

3. Fold in walnuts

4.  Scoop into line muffin pans.  Blake 20-25 min. at 350

*The original recipe calls for added baking soda, which I left out.

Into the oven…

  Outta the oven…

These are dense.  And super filling..

If you want to die a slow death of happiness, warm one of these babies up in the mike and top with a little blob of almond butter and cinnamon.  Uh-mazing.

So yes, this would be a suitable snack for the second part of the 24 Day Challenge.   It's also technically Paleo friendly, so a win/win all around.

Put these on your list of things to do this week.  You won't be sorry.

So What Wednesday!

Aww Snap!  It's back!  SWW!

Here we go, yo.

* SO WHAT if I'm downright shocked at my own behavior for avoiding the 2 for $22 candle sale last week.  I had coupons and everything….  I know!!   #whoami?

*SO WHAT if I wore Hunter Wellie's to work today and basically clomped around like a horse in a professional setting?   It was kind of ridiculous, really.  But I'm sorry, if the weather man wasn't such an A-hole in these parts and could give us some sunshine like we're deserving of, we wouldn't have this problem.

*SO WHAT if my neighbors put a giant, obnoxious statue of a Yeti in my yard and I'm kind of obsessed with the relatiation that's about to go down.    #onlikeDK

*SO WHAT if I may have gone a little overboard with the leprechaun and his shenans with the kids?  He even acctidentlly brought little presents.  Yes, I'm one of "them."  But they are only little once and sometimes I can't help it.   All fun and games, peeps.

*SO WHAT if I just got wind that they are remaking The Little Mermaid, live action style, and I'm legit more excited than the 7 year old?     Zero doubt I'm all in on opening night.   And I might even get diayabeetus-inducing sour patch kids.

*SO WHAT if I'm pretty sure I've developed yet another nut butter addiction?  Sunflower butter.  It's where it's at, friends.    #facty

S'all for now.   See you  back here tomorrow for sumthin sumthin.

Things You Need ASAP. For real.

Wow.  It's been minute but I'm back in black.    Sorry I left y'all hannging but I do have some new goodies up my sleeve and regular blogging resumes  in 3,2,1…..

First things first… Happy Belated SPD from the monkey girls..

Now let's get down to biz…

1.   It's a fact that I'm becoming less of a lipgloss snob by the day.  I can't even believe it myself.

Allow me to present three "over the counter" lipglosses that you guys are gonna need yesterday.

1.  NYX Sugar Pie   This is so fabulous over a nude-ish lipstick/ liner or alone.  Pinky beige with an itsy bit of shimmer.  This reminds me of Nars Turkish Delight, which I LOVE.  However it's 5 bones and not 25.  #winning

2.  Milani Bare Secret   This is the one that I'm most obsessed with.   The perfect milky, brownie, nudey, matte gloss.   How's that for a description?

3.  Maybeline Iced Chocolate   I recently rediscovered this and can't believe it hasn't been in the lipgloss pouch in my bag all along.   A medium nude that I swear looks good on everyone.   A tiny bit of shimmer but not enough to make you look ridiculous or like a teenager.

My friend Kami busted these out on our trip to Chicago last month and I knew I had to make them mine.    Here's the deal.   I'm a grease monkey by nature.  I was born that way.   So this means I have to wear waterproof mascara and waterproof eyeliner and even then, it may or may not stay put.   My point is, event though my makeup seems to have no problem moving during the day, when I go to take it off at night, it's a beast.      I love these for removing the days grime and makeup while providing a little subtle exfoliation at the same time.    I still wash with regular cleanser after this but I swear it gives me an extra layer of clean that I didn't have before.

I don't know why this works exactly, but I love it.  I basically walked into Sephora and told the poor girl helping me all of my undereye problems and she immediately recommended this.   I've been using it for about a month and I love it.   So  if you're over the age of 30, go buy this.

First of all, can we all agree that this is the cutest thing you've ever seen?
I'm kind of obsesssed with this for major Vaseline-style lip moisturizing but with an awesome hint of color.  It also has a slight rose scent which is another selling point in my book.

I got this in my Birchbox this month and I'll never be without it.   I use this on my lips at bedtime, as a hand moisturizer, on an ugly patch of dry skin on my cheek…the options are endless.  It is hands down the best all- purpose healing moisturizer I've found to date.  Legit #facty.

Oh Mylanta.  I've used this twice now and I swear it's a product that actually lives up to it's name.  It really does leave your skin brighter and well…happier looking.    Check out the reviews on Birchbox.  I mean, almost everyone loves it.     They do.

There you have it, loves.

I'll deffy you cats back here tomorrow for SWW!

So What Wednesday!!!

Here we go, yo!

*SO WHAT if I'm pretty much consumed by the fact that I lost a full pouch of my favorite lipgoss on Saturday!?    You guys, we're talking my favorite Bobbie's and the whole deal.  I nearly called 911.    And still might.

*SO WHAT if pretty much every time we are in public, I tell almost 4 year old that she better be good because "the boss" is watching her?  It works.  Like a charm.   And she always manages to find a somewhat angry looking man, basically point right at him,  and ask "is he the boss???"   In which I always respond with   "Yes. Yes, he is."   #moty #parenting101

*SO WHAT if I'm more than mildly obsessed with Pitbull's new song, Wild Wild Love?   You guys know the drill.   Download this stat.

*SO WHAT if I'm convinced that Average Joe's is now personally taunting me with their Facebook posts.     Seriously Joe,  why you gotta do me like 'dis?   Is Joe reading the blog?

*SO WHAT if I'm legit about to bust a cap on a weather man if something doesn't change around here?   Not even kidding.  I'm not.     I can't live like this.

*SO WHAT if I may or may not have ordered more household items on Amazon.com because I don't wanna go to the store?   Unless it's to buy something fun.  Then I'm all in.    And I'm in big.

*SO WHAT if I'm already slightly confused by the 7 year old's math homework?   Whatever happened to the old school way?   When did that stop working?    This honestly scares me for the future.  And now that we're all grownups, didn't we all agree that no one really needs more than basic math skills anyway?  (7 year old, this doesn't apply to you.)    Math teachers/ math lovers, #pleasedonthateme, iloveyou.

See y'all back within the next 24 for WIAW!

Why I Don't Own a Scale and Neither Should You

It may be hard to believe coming from someone whose primary income comes from Advo.     However, it's true.  I don't own one.  Nor do I want to.   Nor do I really even know exactly HOW much I weigh.    In fact, the only time I really see my weight is when I go to the Dr.     No lie.

What I do know is this…..

'Tis True.

Here's the deal.  You've all heard it before, but hardly any of us listen...  The number means nothing.    It doesn't.  And it's SOOO easy to get caught up in that number.

I went through a phase in my  early twenties where I was almost consumed with that number.  I would weigh myself 5-6  times a day.  And it was exhausting.  And really, I have zero doubt that I weighed more then, consumed by the scale, than I do now, not even really knowing my weight.

What matters is how sassy you feel in your clothes, how strong you feel, how energetic you feel.

None of that will lie.   The scale WILL lie.    Weigh yourself after a serious sweat sesh and tell me you aren't happy you lost 2 lbs.   Weigh yourself the next day after you're nicely hydrated and tell me you aren't sad that you "gained" weight.

Yes, I tell my peeps to weigh themselves at the start and finish of their 24 Day Challenge for baseline purposes.  However, we focus big-time on inches.  Inches don't lie either.

The things is, you'll KNOW when you're at your goal "weight."    It's based on how you feel in your jeans, based on your mood, based on how energetic you feel.    There is ZERO need for the scale to tell you.   #facty

The fact of the matter is, that "goal weight" is going to fluctuate.   You may be there but have a couple days of feeling gross, bloated, tired.   You'll KNOW when to reign it in and get back on the wagon.  It's all about balance, listening to your body, and seriously, avoiding the scale.

So get rid of 'em, friends.   If you're consumed by the scale, I challenge you to get rid of it for 2 weeks.  Really LISTEN to your body and tell me you don't feel better, happier, healthier….
DARE YOU.

See ya'll back here tomorrow for So What Wednesday!

Sunday Sentiments/ Weekend Wrap Up/ Weekly Dinner Menu

How's that for a title???

It's Monday!  Better late than never, no?

Weekend Workouts:

Friday-  3 miles and Crossfit
Saturday-  3 miles, 15 minutes on the guillotine, and 10 min. on the elliptical.  Followed by the most glorious foam rolling session in the history of the world.
Sunday-  8.5 miles and more foam rolling.

The weekend kinda started on Thursday with a casual little birthday party for some girls in the 'hood.  Also known as my 'nabe's.

Birthday girl #1.   Basically drinking beer from a thimble, if you will.    Cuz she's showy like that.

Just a little impromptu makeup sesh.  No big.  If you know me #irl, you know that if I think your makeup needs a little somethin' somethin,' you know I'll bust out my bag 'o tricks on a dime and start applying.    So yeah, needless to say, that happened.

Friday night the 7 year old peformed in the elementary school talent show, which was all kinds of cuteness and comedy.     She and the 'nabe choreographed their own little get up to Taylor Swift's "Mean."      We couldn't get enough.

All business, folks.

This was followed by Jets pizza for a house full  and these delicious cookies.

If you've never had a Dorothy Lane Market almond sugar cookie, you aren't living.   Dorothy Lane is a fancy little grocery store in the Dayton area.   My mother in law happens to have a fab little connection there and always delivers.   These cookies are insane.

Saturday night was pretty legendary.    As ya'll know, I teach at Title Boxing Club.  One of our trainers just so happens to be a professional boxer.   He was going for a pretty big title on Saturday night and deliver, he did.

Pre- fight pics…

Immediately following the fight.   'Twas cray cray.   I suspect there were lots of people with no voice on Sunday from screaming.

Sunday was the normal family/ household shenans, followed by another trip to what I'd consider our new BW3's....   Average Joe's.         3 1/2 year old was thrilled as they have what she calls "hot dog popsicles"  (aka corn dogs) on the kids menu.    I spent my time lusting after what someday will be mine.  The PB&J Burger.  #dontjudge

Yes, it will.   And you guys will be the first to hear every deet.

Let's get down to biz.

The Weekly Menu

Tonight's din din got put off till tomorrow as I ended up at Chipotle with the monkeys.

Here we have:

Chipotle Salad

Lettuce
Black Beans
Carnitas
Salsa's (hot, corn, mild)
More Lettuce

Tuesday

'Tis time again.   I can't remember if I told you guys that I toss the hot sauce at the very end due to the kiddos and their lack of love/desire for hot sauce.     Meaning no hot sauce, add marinara.   #shortordercook #fakespaghetti

Wednesday

My girl Lucy gave me a pack of fab recipes today from the book Practical Paleo.   Remember how I said those crazy Paleo folks eat pretty similarly to us Advo folks?   Well it's true.

Pretty sure this is gonna be legit.

Chinese 5-Spice Turkey Lettuce Cups

source

Ingredients:

2 tbsp coconut oil
1 lb ground turkey
1 1/2 tbsp Chinese 5-spice
2 tbsp coconut aminos (you NEED this.  can be found at Whole Paycheck, amazon.com, as well as the gluten free section of some regular grocery stores)
sea salt/ pepper
1 head of butter or bib lettuce.  Iceberg if you're lazy.

Sauce Ingredients:

2 tsp almond butter
2 tbsp coconut aminos
1 tbsp sesame oil
sesame seeds (if desired)

Toppings:

Anything from shredded carrots, cilantro, bell peppers, cucumber, cabbage, etc.   Play around with it.

I'm super pumped for this one.    Obvi this will be on WIAW, so stay tuned.  And obvi, my pic. is gonna look just as beautiful, if not better, than the beauty above.   I kid.

Thursday

Marinated Greek Chicken Skewers

source

I'm likely going to have to make this on the Georgey (Foreman, that is) since it's pretty much 0 degrees here.   However, this looks so easy and delish.   Obviously the recipe had me at Greek.  I may or may not have to add a tiny bit of feta, since I was supposed to be Greek anyway.

Friday

Free For All/  Leftovers/  Dinner Out (most likely option).

See you back here tomorrow for my little theory on the scale and why we basically don't need 'em.

Laters Taters.

What I Ate Wednesday! On Sunday (!!!)

Oh Mylanta.  I'm off the chain behind with this here bloggy.   So here's the deal.   Here are Wednesday's eats.  Yes, I took pics. and everything but have not had one free second to post until now.

Okay, tomorrow will bring the normal Sunday Sentiments and upcoming weekly menu, which I'm going to be working on the second I hit "publish."

Without further adieu...   Here we go, yo.

Of course, the day started like every other 365 days of the year.

Spark/ Catalyst...

Workout-  3 miles and Crossfit

Back at the ranch, I drank a crap-ton of water and made a protein/veggie/fruit/smoothie.  I had the before breakfast/ with food MNS packs during the process.

We have:

2 cups unsweetened chocolate almond milk
2 scoops chocolate Muscle Gain
2 c spinach
1 c kale
2 beets
1 c frozen strawberries.

#tdf

About 2 hours later, I had my beloved cookies and cream Quest bar.  Primarily because I can't function when I know cook & cream  is in da hiz.

I also threw this in the crockpot.

Before lunch, I had the rest of the (unpictured) MSN pack.   I had a late lunch at Jimmy V's.  614 people, do you know about Jimmy's??
So here's the deal.  I'm pretty sure I'm supposed to be Greek but really I'm German, which is all wrong.   Anyway, hummus plate to start, per usual.

Followed by salads.  My lunch date got the Gyro salad.    Here's the bad part.   I knew I had made a horrific, irreversible mistake the second the waiter brought the salads.     Ya see, I wanted this salad the second I laid my eyes on it.

However, I got the Greek chicken salad.  Still delish, but no Gyro salad.
Needless to say, negotiations occurred and I ended up with approx. 1/5 of said gyro meat in exchange for 2 slices of chicken.    Not a bad deal.
Once I got home, I had (unpictured) Spark/ Catalyst #2, with about 1/2 scoop of Rehydrate.
A few hours later, a few dips in the AB jar happened.  Nothing to see here.

Accompanied by a pink lady apple the size of my head.

Oh and a dip in my new bff...Sunflower butter.

I was still pretty full from lunch and snacks so had a several  bites of the crockpot dinner that you see above from the kiddos plates.  However, I really didn't make a plate myself.      That's how I roll sometimes.        I am a big "eat if you're hungry, don't if you're not" proponent.  I see no reason to eat 3 meals and 3 snacks per day, just because "it's time."   Ya know?

Before bed, I had another Rehydrate

And a dose of Nighttime Recovery.

Cuz my body be barking. And beat up.

Okay, I'll see you guys back here for realz for Sunday Sentiments and the menu.
